Set up blackbox logging for the best analysis
An analysis is only as good as the log. With the right blackbox settings, PIDoctor gets the data it needs for the full filter and PID diagnosis.
01Enable blackbox logging
In the Betaflight configurator, enable the blackbox and pick onboard flash or an SD card as the device. Make sure there's enough free space and erase old logs before the flight.
02Set the sample rate
A logging rate of around 2 kHz is plenty for analysis and saves storage. Higher is rarely needed; too low blurs the high frequencies that matter for filter analysis.
03Pick a debug mode with the unfiltered gyro
This is the key step: choose a debug mode that also records the unfiltered (raw) gyro. Only then can PIDoctor see what your filters actually remove — otherwise the filter analysis is limited.
04Fly the tuning flight
Fly a few deliberate, sharp stick inputs per axis (roll, pitch, yaw) plus a couple of fast descents for propwash. The separate tuning-flight guide shows exactly what to do.
05Download and upload the log
Download the log from the blackbox tab (or straight from flash) and drop the .bbl/.bfl file into PIDoctor. The analysis starts automatically.
