Long-range and 7-inch tuning: efficiency and stability
Big, heavy long-range quads don't want to be sharp — they want to be stable and efficient. That shifts the tuning goals well away from freestyle.
Different goals: efficiency over sharpness
For 7-inch and long-range, flight time and calm matter more than snappy response. You usually run more moderate gains and lower rates — the quad should sit smooth and predictable, not twitchy.
More mass, lower resonances
Heavy quads with big props have lower motor and frame resonances. Make sure the dynamic-notch range and RPM filter cover those lower frequencies, otherwise propwash or mid oscillation gets through.
Avoid hot motors from weight
Lots of weight plus big props can heat motors fast. Stay in the recommended prop range, use TPA against high-throttle heat and keep the filters clean so no noise loads the motors further.
Check stability in the log
